Senate nixes Democrats' housing crisis fix

Accoring to a Washington Times acrticle, the Democrats proposal would give "bankruptcy judges the power to readjust the terms of troubled mortgages." The problem with this is that it would allow a judge to alter the terms of a contract, thereby causing a breach of contract. Besides, home owners already have to right to renegotiate their mortgage with their mortgage lender. This would set a very serious precedent.

Gloria Steinhem's failing memory

According to New York Post Article, FEMINIST FOLLIES: SLAPPING SOLDIERS, Hillary Clinton dragged the aging feminist out of the dustbin. Her feminist rant hasn't changed. According to her:

"I am so grateful that [Clinton] hasn't been trained to kill anybody. And she probably didn't even play war games as a kid," Steinem spewed, adding that "from George Washington to Jack Kennedy and PT-109 we have behaved as if killing people is a qualification for ruling people."

I guess she can't remember all of the times Hillary said that she supported Bush and the war in Iraq. For that matter, Hillary probably can't remember either.

Increasing irrelevance of Congress

Why is Congress wasting its time holding hearings on the use of steriods by pro basebell players? Ever since the Democrats took control of both Houses in the 2006 election, Congress has become a circus. Illegal steroid use is a matter for civilian law enforcement, not Congress.

Further evidence of Congress's irrelevance is the numerous bills recently to rename Post Offices to honor someone, passing bills to honor someone or event. It's no wonder that Congress's approval rating is at a historical low.

While Congress can find the time to waste on such asinine issues, it cant address much more important issues. After the Senate passed to bill to extend FISA, Nancy Pelosi called a recess to avoid a vote on the bill. I guess she couldn't trust her own party to tow the line.

Nancy Pelosi promised bipartisanship, a promise that was ignored as soon as the 2006 elections were over. The Democrats have refused to allow Republicans to debate bills or to add amendments. On May 17, 2007, the Democrats tried to change a House rule that allows the minority party to recommit a bill, that is, send a bill back to committee which would allow the Republicans some say. This rule hasn't been changed since 1822.

On August 2, 2007, the House Democrats tried to illegally change the vote on a spending bill. When the House voted to 215 to 213 to recommit the bill, the presiding officer on that day, Mike McNulty, D from the Albany, NY area, declared the vote closed. When the clerk handed him the tally, he called the vote a 214 to 214 tie (a blatant lie) when the voting machines suddenly "went down" while votes were still being entered (which is illegal; once a vote is called, voting stops). A few minutes later, McNutty declared the vote 212 to 216 against recommit. The next day, the Democrats tried to claim that they made an honest mistake(!) and then tried to expunge the incident from the record.

Pelosi also claimed that she was going to clean up the corruption, yet yestarday, she withdraw an ethics reform bill rather than put it to a vote. What is she trying to hide? She did make an effort to reform earmarks, sort of. She appointed Steny Hoyer to track earmark requests. His plan was to remove all earmark requests from bills before a vote and then later award earmarks as he so chose. In other words, the Democrats idea of earmark reform is to remove the whole process from public notice and make the process secret.

Its obvious that the Democrats have to cheat and break the law because they don't know any other way.
